Life of Pi

Yesterday I had to go to a meeting in Saratoga Springs, NY. I rode with two other people from work, so I got to sit in the backseat and read the whole way there and back. I FINALLY finished Stephen King's Lisey's Story, so I had one of my new Christmas gift card books with me to read - Life of Pi by Yann Martel. And it is SO GOOD! I am in love with this book. It starts off a little slowly, with lots of talk about zoos and religion, but once I got past that stuff, I just didn't want to put it down anymore. And actually, I didn't mind the early stuff either, it just wasn't as exciting as the main story. If you haven't read this book yet, do yourself a favor and buy it or check it out of the library. Then get ready to spend a few hours just sitting still and reading, because you won't want to stop once you start - consider yourself warned.

I love those kind of books that can't be put down!I'm glad you're feeling better or at least can move enough to enjoy a good read!

Thanks Cathy, I really am feeling a lot better! I still have a little pain in my shoulder and upper arm, but it's only a minor ache now, not a major pain. I'm not even using the heating pad today. Woo!

And this book is definitely one that you can't put down. J was over last night, and while he was sitting there, I kept picking it up and sneaking in another page or two of reading while we were heating up dinner. I couldn't stop!

I've seen it around and wondered if I'd like it or not. Now I'll have to read it! Thanks for the suggestion!!

Although, really...you can read in the car? Not only that, but you can read in the backseat?! I get car sick just sitting in the backseat sometimes! Reading is definitely out of the question!

I've never had a problem reading in the car. Shoot, I remember reading on the bus on the way to school as soon as I learned to read! I know a lot of people have problems with it, though. I'm just glad I don't! :)

I'm jealous Denise! I want to be able to read in the car, but get motion sickness for my efforts everytime. All I can do is glance briefly at a map at most when hubby and I get lost on one of our drives. Even that's too much sometimes.
