Woo! I came home from work today, got my mail, and had something from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Ooh, bad news. That was my initial reaction. But! It turned out that, to quote the stub: "In accordance with the new STAR school property tax rebate program approved by Governor George Pataki and the State Legislature, we are pleased to provide you with the attached check to help reduce the burden of your 2006-07 school taxes." They sent me $158.40! Excellent. I love unexpected money!
And, more good news, the diet continues to go well. I am weighing myself on my home scale in the mornings and then on the scale at work after I get there. According to my home scale, I lost three pounds last week. According to the work scale, I only lost a pound. So obviously, I'm ignoring the work scale and paying more attention to my own scale. :) Regardless, it's still going well, and the weight continues to come off slowly, and I'm still just as motivated as ever. And I have to mention here that I got the best comments from a new reader in the UK, Reid. Reid, you rock. Thanks for the support, and congratulations on your own weight loss! I hope you'll keep reading. And hey, maybe someday I'll even put up a progress picture or two! I'm not sure. Maybe. I'm a little camera shy, though, so we'll see.
And now I'm going to think about what I'm going to do with my unexpected windfall. Actually, I'll probably be boring and save it for my homeowner's taxes, since my school taxes are already paid. Anyway, here's hoping that you will all have great weekends! I'm going to go to lunch with my sister on Sunday, so I definitely will. Talk to you later!

Unexpected money ... I'm so jealous and great news that the weight loss is going well. Keep up the good work :).
Well, the SIM Pets is released in a few days ... what better way to spend some of the unexpected windfal?
Oh, Sim Pets is already on pre-order, believe me. :) I can't wait to make a Sim Bernie and Willow and give them to someone in my neighborhood.
I'm so excited for my sims to be able to have pets! I thought of pre-ordering it as well, but in the past I seem to recieve it aa few days after it's already in stores. I figure this time I'll just walk on over and buy it instead.
By the way, how are your sims doing? :)
I'm very excited too! I can't wait to play with the little Sim pets, and to use the new create a pet to customize them to look like my critters. And my Sims are doing well, thanks! This is a totally different thing than this blog, and they aren't written all that well, but if you ever want to read them, I have a bunch of stories uploaded on my Sim page. The link is: http://thesims2.ea.com/mysimpage/mysimpage.php?user_id=1006952
I hope that works. And I'm also hoping to have the game the day it comes out, since I preordered it from Amazon. They're usually pretty fast. I'll sure be watching my mailbox that day!
Thanks for the great comments!
OOh, unexpected money! Nice! Keep a little to treat yourself with :-)
I don't know what SIM Pets are - must look into this...
x
I don't know what SIM Pets is either :). Is it some kind of game?
The Sims 2 is a video game that I can never explain well enough to make people understand how fun it is, but basically it is computerized people whose lives you control - their jobs, relationships, children, etc. And there is a new expansion pack coming out in a couple of weeks that will add pets to the game. Dogs, cats, birds and little hamster type animals. As a Sims 2 addict, it is something I am very much looking forward to!
Also, my avatar is a sim person - loosely based on me. So you have an idea what they look like. :)
