I've been thinking for a while now that it was time to take a break from the Sims. I generally would have it on whenever J wasn't home, as something to do to fill the hours alone. But it's spring, and I was feeling the need to do other stuff. So I haven't been playing for the last couple of weeks, and I'm working on remembering how to fill my time with other hobbies.
And with that in mind, I went online last week and ordered this counted cross-stitch pattern. Isn't it cute? It looks a lot like our Rosebud, and I'm doing this up as a gift for J. Of course, even without the Sims taking my time, it'll take a long time to finish this thing - it's going to be fairly large, and it's really involved. It'll be fun to do, though - I haven't cross-stitched in a long time.
I've also picked the baby blanket back up that I'm making for my nephew and his wife's new baby, which is due in May. My sister is going to California to visit them in June, and I'd like to have it done by then so that she can take it with her. Why ship something that she can transport for free? :)
Once I get done with that baby blanket, I have to make another one, this one for my brother's baby, which is also due in May. He just e-mailed me today to tell me what color they want (pink), so I'll get started on that as soon as I finish this one.
I am going to be a knitting/cross-stitching fool! It's a good thing I can do both of these activities while watching TV and DVDs.
I'm sure at some point I'll start going through withdrawals from the Sims and will go back to it - I've never gone more than a few months without playing since I got the game in the first place. But for as long as I go without playing, I'm going to have fun rediscovering my old hobbies. Oh, and spending time outside, too! It's spring, after all. :)
