My workplace is really testing a PMSing girl's good mood lately. Yesterday they told us that our department was only going to be working seven hours a day during the school's winter break (for anyone who happens to come here from holidailies who hasn't read my archives - I work at a small college, where I also attend two classes a semester in pursuit of my Bachelor's degree), and that we would just lose those other five hours a week. What the heck? How can they do that with only a week's warning? The semester break starts a week from today. I, for one, cannot afford to lose that much money a week - I have a heating fuel bill to pay and I'm broke as it is. I complained, and I wasn't the only one - the policy is under review now, and we may have a "transition year" to adjust to the new policy so that we won't have to lose that much money this year without having the chance to prepare for it in advance.
So that's the first thing. I was in a really good mood until I got that news yesterday, but I mananged to regain it after we got the news that it might be rescinded. Great!
Then I come in this morning (at 7:30, to make up some of the time that I lose going to classes) and it is FREEZING in here. It was below 60 degrees when I came in, and it's only warmed up about two degrees since then (it's 8:23 now). If I have to wear my coat and gloves today, I'm not going to be a happy camper. I mean, the hormones are playing with my mood as it is - I just may snap later if I can't thaw my fingers out at some point.
Also? Being lactose intolerant really sucks sometimes. I went down to our little cafe to get a bagel for breakfast, and I really wanted to get some hot chocolate, too - to help warm me up. I asked if it was made with milk or water, and it's made with milk. Damn. This day better start looking up soon, or it's going to be a long 8 1/2 hours before I get to leave. My one consolation - the annoying boy who works part-time at the beginning of the week won't be in today. Yay! Instead I get to work with Sarah, who is great. Thank goodness - otherwise I may have lost my mind! Annoying boy's neck might not have made it through the day without my fingers wrapping around it and cutting off his air supply.
Now, if only I could get a little heat in here...
Less noise, more me
