Being Broke is Dangerous

I am broke this month. I'm going to get all of my bills paid, and I'll even be able to buy a few groceries, but there is no extra cash in my budget this month. This isn't something that's fun to live with, but I don't need anything that I don't have, so I can live with it. And thanks to the glory of student loans, by the end of next month times will be much easier. In the meantime, though, one situation was getting pretty desperate. And desperate times call for desperate measures, right? Right. Except it's probably not a good idea to let that desperation lead you into the bathroom with a pair of scissors and a head of hair that has gotten so long that it's driving you crazy. Yes, I cut my own hair.

I'm sure a hair dresser would think the job I did was horrible. The ends aren't even, I cut huge hunks of hair at a time instead of doing one layer of hair at a time like the professionals do. But I'll clean up the edges tomorrow after I take my shower, while my hair is wet. And I've done this before, so I knew not to cut too short - I got rid of about three inches. But they were inches I could afford to lose - my hair was down to the middle of my back. Now? Just below the shoulders. Even after the ends are trimmed to even them up, I'll still have a respectable full head of hair.

But for the rest of today, I'm wearing a ponytail. It's a good thing I don't plan on leaving the house.
